Revisiting Old Content
Since I can’t move the old stuff into the new database I am going to republish some of my old articles, which unfortunately means a loss of comments for these entries. However, I do get to offer a fresh perspective on the articles so they will be even better than before.
Please understand that I love and respect the time everyone takes to make a comment on this site and I do not make this decision lightly. Although all the old content is still viewable, it does not fit in with the current template. Not every page will be brought in, just my favorites so not too much stuff will be regurgitated.
Hope you don’t mind.

The main problem is that the SQLDump is over 4GB in size so opening it isn’t an option because it crashes everything. I tried.

Why not just write a script to import all the posts and comments into the new database? It shouldn’t be too hard with PHP. If you don’t know much PHP shoot me an email and I could probably help.

I mind! I was going to do the same thing with some old entries I made that never got noticed at YTS because they were published before anybody knew the site existed. I guess I can just “copy” Scrivs.

I don’t see this as a big deal at all. If it’s your content, what’s the harm? Also, because blogs sometimes aren’t the best vehicle for permanent content, it’s good to go back and revisit things that are still relevant.
I’m sure the stuff you republish will be worth reading.

How the hell did something get over 5G’s in sql data?
