Header font suggestions

Anyone out there have some suggestions for great looking fonts I could try out for the headers on this site? I plan on making the move to sIFR and am searching for the hotness. If you know of anything please let me know. Of course I prefer free fonts, but if it’s high-quality I would be willing to shell out some cash for it. And don’t forget to link up the font so I don’t have to go searching.

  1. I like default fonts, like Georgia or Times New Roman. They’re fine.

  2. I can highly reccomend you Myriad; it’s a great font, although it’s comercial and you have to pay for using it.

  3. If you’re looking for serif fonts, I’m really beginning to like Perpetua. I bought it on Veer here.

  4. I’ve takena similar route with my re-design - I would suggest Garamond, (Adobe Garamond Pro) or Jenson, (Adobe Jenson Pro I think) which would allow you to use some nice ligatures as well as escaping the drudgery of Georgia.

I used Caslon, so you can’t have that.

  5. If you like a serif font with capitals, like it is at the time of this posting, you might try Trajan Pro. Felix Titling is a close second to Trajan in that category, though I don’t think it looks quite as classy since it’s all upper caps.

For a sans-serif font, I’m a big fan of Cronos Pro for stylish, yet professsional, looking titles. It’s got a business look with a dash of flair.

  7. I need links guys! Links! Haha, I guess I can search for these, but really links would be appreciated in the future. Throw some good sans-serif my way as well.

  8. I dunno, I kind of prefer vanilla HTML headings; which, I guess, is kind of ironic given my involvement with the initial version of sIFR.

Everything looks damn fine on Mac OS X anyways, and I don’t really care how it looks for the Windows suckers out there. ;-)

  9. How about Bitstream Vera Sans? ( http://www.gnome.org/fonts/ ) — no messing about.

  10. It’s all about Neutraface. Choose it, or suffer the consequences.

  11. Damn, I’ve been beaten to the Neutraface suggestion. le sigh.

Whitney is quite nice. Modern, sturdy, not boring.

A personal fav of mine. Its a condensed sans font. Looks great for headings/headlines IMO. Also, I don’t know of hardly anyone that uses it.

If you can find it, however, it might be a little spendy, but well worth it.
